Taonga Tuku Iho, a Best Practice Guide for Equity in Preterm Birth in Aotearoa has been developed in response to multiple calls for national guidance and consistency in evidenced-based practice in preterm birth care across Aotearoa.

Through each section of Taonga Tuku you will find guideline recommendations and good practice points, alongside tools and resources to support your implementation of best practice. This includes Whānau Information to support your conversations; standard operating procedures, checklists and algorithms; video and link resources to learn more; and audit standards and tools to improve your practice.

The research that has informed this national best practice guide was supported by a Health Research Council/Manatū Hauora Maternity Services Programme grant.

Taonga Tuku Iho is designed as a living document. Guideline recommendations and good practice points will be reviewed at regular intervals and updated as required. Tools and resources will be added as they become available.

Not all sections, topics and resources within Taonga Tuku Iho are available for release on the e-launch date (13^th November 2024). These will be added over the coming 6-12 months so please check back in regularly for updates.
